LIVING IN OPEN AWARENESS is the website of Roy Whenary. Roy has lived in the South West of England, in the small town of Totnes, for the past 20 years, and the county of Devon for around 35 years. He is the author of the book: 'THE TEXTURE OF BEING', and various small publications, plus several music albums.

Roy's writing and sharing are informed by a lifetime's passion for self-enquiry, poetry, nature, the stars, spontaneity, creativity, clarity and understanding. His main "spiritual" influences include J.Krishnamurti, Jean Klein, Vimala Thakar and Nisargadatta Maharaj ... but so many more as well.
Widely read in the "spiritual" field, Roy embraces an inclusive attitude, rather than an exclusive one.

He has also actively hosted a Facebook group called OPEN AWARENESS for many years.

Poetic influences include Percy Shelley, Rabindranath Tagore, Kahlil Gibran, Rumi, along with modern poets like Rainer Maria Rilke, Mary Oliver and numerous others.

 

Roy also enjoyed working with Indonesian Movement teacher/artist, Suprapto Suryodarmo (known to his friends around the world as simply 'Prapto'), for many years, until Prapto's untimely passing at the end of 2019.

Roy has followed a vegetarian lifestyle for over 50 years, also embracing natural health practices, and spending as much time as possible in nature ... the great healer and source of inspiration.
